Meet Your Director: Managing Director of MBA Pathway Program: Carol Swett

Carol Swett has over 18 years of experience as an international educator, entrepreneur, international presenter, and seminar leader. Currently she serves as the Managing Director of the ELS CLU MBA Pathway Program at California Lutheran University and the Director of International Students and Services in the Center for Global Engagement. Prior to this position she was the Academic Director and then Center Director of ELS Educational Programs.
During her previous years at Benedictine University she was the Assistant to the Provost for Intercultural Education and the Executive Director of International Programs at Benedictine University in Illinois. In all her roles her priority is creating an inclusive academic culture so that the delivery of student education provides rich intercultural interaction, academic stimulation, and personal gratification. She is personally committed to increasing global interdependence and cultural empathy by providing cross-cultural experiences for everyone in her sphere of influence.
Personal Background
She developed her expertise through classes in an EdD. program on leadership and organizational change, as weel as programs in intercultural and diversity training, seminars, and from workshops at NAFSA, TESOL and conferences, both in-person and online. She is a NAFSA Training Corp member and has presented on professional research in the areas of intercultural education, international student acclimation and student success.
She has certificates from organizations such as the American Council on Education (National Women’s Leadership Forum),NAFSA, and an Inclusive Excellence award from Benedictine University “in recognition of her outstanding efforts in promoting diversity on campus and helping to create a culture of inclusive excellence.” She has presented at national and regional conferences such as ACE, NAFSA, TESOL nationally and abroad.

“Part of California Lutheran University’s Steven Dorfman Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Hub101 is a startup community hub for the Conejo Valley and Ventura County. Hub101 is connected to the Center’s academic and research programs, providing entrepreneurs with an affordable, safe space to launch their startups and aspiring student entrepreneurs an opportunity to interact with practicing founders. Hub101’s floor plan features an innovative hybrid layout that makes it both a coworking space for entrepreneurs and a university satellite campus CLU’s Hub101 offers a variety of creative work environments and a community of thinkers, creatives, and doers. The incredible community of students, mentors, investors, and business leaders come together and collaborate to solve problems, drive change, and support each other. We regularly host a variety of entrepreneurial-related events, including speaker series, panels, seminars, and educational programs and workshops to elevate the startup and entrepreneurial community.”
